A couple of days ago, on Thursday 14th March, Ian Dobbs, freelance illustrator currently working in Birmingham, came in, and gave us a talk on his experiences, his job as a freelancer, and showed us his work.
Ian Dobbs creates Editorial Illustrations, and mainly always works on the computer using programmes such as Photoshop, and Illustrator, using hundreds of layers.
He has worked for many news companies, such as 'the guardian' 'the independent' and many more.
He gave us all very good advice, about leaving University with a good portfolio, and to take all opportunities, and recognise that they could lead to jobs, and be prepared to make mistakes.
The talk he gave was very enjoyable and interesting, it was nice to hear about his job, and his work.
I took a look at his website when I got home that day, and was very fascinated by his textured and many layered illustrations.
